About us

Anglican Diocesan Services (ADS) is the principal provider of corporate services to the Anglican Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn, encompassing the Property Trust, Parishes, Anglican Investment Development Fund, Synergy Youth, Anglican Campsites, Anglican Schools, ELC's and Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT.

About you

You will have a number of years' experience working in a senior technical role supporting large-scale enterprise environments. Your proven solutions, design, and implementation experience across multiple platforms will stand you in good stead. Ideally, you will be a systems engineer who can cross over into network administration at various times.

The opportunity

  • Design, build and manage compute, data storage and data protection systems across data centres, corporate & branch offices, campuses and other locations as required
  • Design, build and manage the SOE of the end user computing environment across data centres, corporate & branch offices, campuses and other locations as required
  • Coordinate patching activity for all systems across compute, data storage, data protection and end user computing environments across data centres, corporate & branch offices, campuses and other locations as required
  • Design, build and manage enterprise-wide security infrastructure across the compute, data storage, data protection and end user computing environments
  • Coordinate and oversee regular data protection processes and procedures
  • Use the ticketing system to document actions to effectively communicate information with the team and to the end user
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation of all system infrastructure, including compute, storage, data protection, the end user environment, etc.
  • Take general ownership of infrastructure management for nominated sites within an assigned portfolio.
  • Mentor other technical staff in the systems engineering discipline, empowering them to assist with day-to-day elements of systems engineering.
  • Provide senior-level 3 escalation support for systems engineering matters when required.
  • On occasion, participate as a generalist level 3 support engineer across the entire infrastructure domain (e.g., network engineering).
  • Ensure a high quality of service and support is provided to end users, aligned with our Service Level Agreements and agreed processes.

Your skills, experience & personal attributes

  • Strong Microsoft Windows Server implementation and administration skills
  • Strong practical experience in Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.
  • Experience implementing and managing identity access management systems
  • Virtualisation experience (Hyper-V or VMWare)
  • Experience with HCI highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of public cloud concepts within platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with key networking concepts such as VLANs, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS etc.
  • Experience with the implementation and administration of cloud productivity suites such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Apps
  • Proven experience with SOE development and software deployment methods (e.g. System Centre Configuration Manager, Intune/Autopilot, JAMF, etc.)
  • Strong administration skills across Windows 10, 11, MacOS and iOS.
  • Strong experience with telephony systems, including MS Teams Calling and workflows
  • Demonstrable experience configuring and managing data protection solutions and procedures
  • Strong, demonstrated scripting skills with a drive to automate operational tasks
  • Exposure to database administration with an understanding of SQL
  • Exposure to information security toolsets such as SIEM, Vulnerability Management, Endpoint XDR etc. would be highly regarded
  • Some network administration/engineering skills are desirable
  • Strong, demonstrated technical documentation skills
  • ITIL awareness and understanding
  • Demonstrated track record of strong communication skills and initiative
  • Working within a team environment
  • Participation in an on-call weekend roster and providing additional after-hours support where necessary
  • Ability to support and uphold the mission and values of Anglican Diocesan Services and the entities it supports
